The Aesthetic Study On The Two Immortals Temple At The Region Of Jincheng City Shanxi Province

Jincheng City has a long history,profound cultural accumulation and devout religious atmosphere which is located in the southeast of Shan xi province and on the top of Taihang Mountain.In the Song and Yuan period,in order to spread Taoism better and enlarge its influence,the Taoist believers combined the folk religion constantly in the process of missionary work.Finally,it formed the unique “two immortals faith” in southeast Shan xi regions.The two fairies,namely “ Le’ s two women”.The local people were used to calling it “two immortals grandmother” and the people in southeast Shan xi began to believe in it during the late Tang dynasty.“Two immortals” is the regional folk god worshiped by people in southeast Shanxi,also a result that Taoism and folk religion constantly wrestled and fused.The rulers supported Taoism actively during the northern song dynasty.Emperors had special preference and pursuit of Taoism and they have reached extravagant stage by the emperor huizong at late northern song dynasty.Since then,“two immortals faith” got rapid development and was recognized by the ruling class.What’s more,they were reward with the immortals of “Chonghui” and “Chongshu”,its temple name was”Zhenze”.Two immortals faith reached its peak during this period and gradually formed a relatively complete system of beliefs.The people in southeast Shanxi built lots of temples and palaces with rich local cultural characteristics.Taoist priest and Taoist believers affected two immortals belief by the way of reshaping the images of two immortals,giving Taoist names and promoting Taoist rituals and so on.The two immortals faith formed under such a background absorbed some doctrine of Taoism including the local folk stories,legends and customs and so on,therefore it has strong local characteristics.It as well as architectures,frescoes,folk literature and so on related to the two immortals faith all can shows the local aesthetic characteristics.The local people who believed in the two immortals were very much and there were many temple fairs.We can still see spectacles that worshiping the two immortals until now.The paper takes the faith of two immortals in the city of Shanxi Jincheng as the breakthrough point and takes the related literature,architectures,line carved murals,stages and folk literature as its research object.First,it sorts out and summarizes historical literature and then classifieds all two immortals temples in the Jincheng city area by a lot of field investigations and next filtered some information on architectures and murals with research value.The introduction of this paper is composed of three parts: the research status quo of the two immortals faith,research significance and research idea as well as methods and innovations.The text is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is the general situation of the two immortals faith and its temples in the city of Jincheng.It starts from existing two immortals temples and then excavates the two immortals faith’s generation,cause and the change in the history.The second chapter mainly discusses the architectural aesthetics characteristics of the two immortals temples.First it sorts out the existing two immortals temples and their distributions,from which it selects three temples characteristics with research value,respectively are the environment aesthetics advocating nature of the two immortals temples at Xixi,corresponding harmonious beauty of Dressing Tower of the two immortals temples at Xi xi and the artistic conception beauty of “a castle in the heavenly palace” of the two immortals temples in Xiaonan village.The third chapter is the painting aesthetic characteristics of the two immortals temples.Also,it selects three works with research significance and regional representative.They are the line carved aesthetic characteristics at “Song and Jin’s scene figure” and “Dance with silk figure”,the mix beauty of carved-brick altar Xumizuo at the two immortals temples of Xilimen and murals of the two immortals temples of Nanshentou and the manner beauty of le’s two women statues sculptured during song dynasty at the two immortals temples of Xiaonan village.Each has its own merits.After the part is appendix,It highlights the regional aesthetic characteristics of Jincheng city through all these.
