In recent years,Chinese literature going-out has become an increasingly popular topic. And the enthusiasm and action of promoting Chinese literature going-out have risen constantly. In 2012,Mo Yan was the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.Since then, the research of Mo Yan’s works and its English translator Goldblatt’s translation from domestic and foreign scholars has become a hot trend.Goldblatt’s translation of Mo Yan’s works has obtained wide recognition, appreciation and acceptability from readers and scholars. In addition, his translation can promote the dissemination of Chinese literature and culture abroad.“Creative treason” was put forward by the French literary sociologist Robert Escarpit in his book The Sociology of Literature.Professor Xie Tianzhen is regarded as the first person to introduce the concept of “creative treason” into China, and he definitely agrees with Escarpit’s opinion.Since the beginning of 1990 s,Professor Xie Tianzhen has written articles continually to introduce and interpret “creative treason” and provided a comprehensive, systematic and in-depth interpretation in his book Medio-translatology.Creative treason affirms that the difference between original text and target text cannot be erased. And it focuses on the status, function, dissemination and acceptability of target text in the target culture.Based on the acceptability and dissemination degree of original text,it can provide reference for accelerating the step of Chinese literature going-out.This thesis has an in-depth analysis of Goldblatt’s English version of The Garlic Ballads from the perspective of translator’s creative treason, and analyzes it from the specific expressions of translator’s creative treason-individualized translation, mistranslation and abridged translation in detail.Based on it,the author of this thesis provides comments and suggestions from the aspects of translator’s choice of translation strategies, writer’s attitude towards translator, and publisher’s suggestion for translator in the period of before-translating,while-translating and after-translating respectively. The author of this thesis tries to explore the specific strategies of Chinese literature going-out from Goldblatt’s successful translation out of Chinese and provide specific and feasible way from the aspects of the choice of translation teaching and textbook of school, translator, writer, publisher and government.
