This translation project report chooses The Power of Transformation Wind,Sun and the Economics of Flexible Power Systems released by the International Energy Agency(IEA)in 2014 as its topic. This publication summarizes the results of the third phase of the Grid Integration of Variable Renewable Energy(GIVAR)project, undertaken by the IEA over the past two years. It is rooted in a set of seven case studies, comprising 15 countries on four continents. It deepens the technical analysis of previous IEA work and lays out an analytical framework for understanding the economics of VRE integration impacts.Chapter 2 presents six properties of wind and solar PV power plants that are most relevant for their system and market integration, power system properties that are relevant to system integration are also introduced. This translation report is made up of four parts. The first part overviews the background and meaning of this translation project;the second part is the background of the source text, analyzing the original text in terms of text type and linguistic features;the third part is the most important part of this translation project, which clarifies the difficulties encountered during the translation process, introduces the translation theory — Skopos theory and gives specific examples to illustrate the translation methods used in the translation process;the fourth part is the summary. The author hopes this translation report can help the professionals and those who are interested in this area to get a better understanding about it and the economics of VRE integration impacts.
