| The Chinese imperfective aspectual marker zhe,one of the widely used aspect markers in Chinese,has been one of the major concerns of grammarians and other researchers in linguistics.Many researches focus on the semantic meaning of zhe.However,this paper explores the aspectual-tense meaning of zhe structure,i.e.the different sentences containing zhe.Temporal and aspectual structure of a sentence is first introduced.And under guide of the temporal and aspectual structure of a sentence,the temporal and aspectual composition model of zhe structure is constructed.The main findings are as follows.Firstly in the construction of the discourse time of a zhe sentence,zhe combines with verb situations in different ways.It argues that when zhe co-occurs with accomplishments in locative inversion,it denotes a resultative state,but when zhe co-occurs with states,accomplishments,activities and semelfactives,it denotes continuation of a situation.Secondly,It’s found how temporal components of zhe are interrelated to one another and what role they play in the temporal composition of a zhe sentence.Thirdly,the tense of a sentence with zhe can be expressed by time adverbials such as zheng ‘right’,zai,tongshi ‘at the same time’ which can co-occur with zhe.Fourthly,although Chinese zhe and le are both aspect markers in Chinese,aspectual-tense framework of zhe and le are not the same. |
