According to career development theory, high school students are in the process of exploring and orientating their occupation. However, due to the insufficient guidance of the career development, high school students in China lack the awareness of the importance of vocational development as well as the occupation-choosing capacity. If high school students can be guided effectively in making their major decisions, they would be less stressful when choose a major that suits them well. Thus, the main purpose of this research is to revise the Strategies for Coping with Career Indecision(SCCI)into Strategies for Coping with Major Indecision(SCMI),which would be suitable for Grade 12 students in China. The questionnaire,Strategies for Coping with Career Indecision(SCCI)has been proved to be an effective measurement. It is expected that the current situation of Grade 12 th can be investigated by SCMI,as a reference to the career guidance for the high school students.A formal scale consisting of 45 items was formed in this study through the translation, back translation, pilot test, formal test, reliability examination and validity examination towards SCCI.This scale was used to investigate the current situation of Grade 12 students’ major indecision. The results are as following:(1)The reliability of the scale,Strategies for Coping with Major Indecision for Grade 12,is 0.75-0.82.It has a significant correlation with criterion validity scale(p<0.01).This means that this scale is suitable for the measurement and the estimation of strategies for coping with major indecision for Grade 12 students.(2)Students in Grade 12 tend to use productive coping strategies.(3)Grade 12 students of different genders have significant differences in major indecision coping strategies.Compared with males, females are more likely to use instrumental information-seeking and instrumental help-seeking strategies(p<0.01),while males prefer self-regulation and isolated coping strategies(p<0.05).(4)Students from different districts have significant differences in major indecision coping strategies.Students from rural place get higher score in delegation and helplessness(p<0.05),while students from city perform better in problemsolving and adaptability strategies(p<0.05).(5)Students who are in the different degree of sense of stress and difficulty have significant differences in choosing major indecision coping strategies.Students with higher sense of stress difficulty have a significant higher score in support-seeking,unproductive coping strategies and delegation(p<0.001).
