Frank Brangwyn,a British modernist painter born in 19 th century,was a versatile and outstanding artist in the British art history,who can never be ignored.For his whole life,Brangwyn has created a large quantity of artistic works,involving almost every field of painting.In memory of the 100 thanniversary of Brangwyn's birth,the British arts community held an exhibition for him,referring him as “one of the most talented British painter”.This paper focuses on three respects: Brangwyn's art career and the process of forming his own painting style,analysis on his painting art and the uniqueness of Brangwyn's paintings compared to other British artists in his era.Through the progressive analysis on his paintings,this paper aims at researching onthe painting arts of Brangwyn's works and exploring his enlightenment and development in thoughts in the artistic atmosphere of his family.Brangwyn's initial painting style was established on the ocean subject.Through a series of journeys and navigation,he had a more abundant thought and spirit.In the process of painting art formation,the author further analyzed Brangwyn's painting art in studying his painting features.In the end,the prominent features of Brangwyn's paintings are concluded,showing his extensive researches on many painting subjects,which granted him with more inspirations and broader developing space.Through an all-round study on Brangwyn's paintings,this paper learned more experiences from his previous art works.From the perspective of artistic creation,the author emphasized the sense of Brangwyn's painting skills,emotions and artistic qualities in his works.In the wake of the 150 th anniversary of Brangwyn's birth,through profound researches,the author hopes to enrich his knowledge on painting arts as well as fill in the vacancy of the academic studies on Brangwyn.
