After the Second World War,the "decolonization" movement began to sweep across West Africa,the Western colonial system in Africa has been a serious impact and destruction;The United States and Soviet Union in order to compete for hegemony in the world,indirectly actively promote the global decolonization movement;Britain and France were severely damaged in the Second World War.In order to restore the status of the world empire and safeguard their interests in the past,they attached great importance to the issue of the colony.It is for these reasons that Britain and France adopted their own policies in the face of decolonization in West Africa.British and French policy towards West Africa,in 1945-1965,not only affects the economic,political and social aspects of the original colonies in West Africa,but also affects the pace of development of decolonization in West Africa.There are great differences between the two countries in the process of decolonization in West Africa.The British colonies in West Africa adopted different policies for different countries,In addition to the policy of violence,in terms of constitutional reform and other aspects of the performance is more modest;The French colony in West Africa has been a "eight colonial alliance" single administration rule,take the same policy of decolonization in different countries and regions,namely the colonial decolonization movement to take more brutal violence policy.The brutal repression of France is in stark contrast to Britain's relatively modest policy of decolonization.This paper is mainly divided into the following sections: the first is a brief overview of history of colonial French West Africa in Mauritania and other nine countries and British Gambia in West Africa and other five countries and finishing;The second is an overview of common historical background of1945-1965 British West African decolonization policy and the law in the content of decolonization policy in West Africa and finishing at the end of the war,the British and French domestic economy was seriously damaged,changed for centuries in European countries such as Britain and France as the center of the world.The emergence of the United States and the Soviet Union opposing new pattern of the world,including African countries,the African national liberation movement has reached a climax,these factors have become the common background of Britain and France in making policy of decolonization,and resulted in1945-1965 years in Britain and France in the West African decolonization policy changes,such as the UK in West Africa,constitutional reform,violence system in West Africa and France assimilation policy reform;The last is to 1945-1965 English Method in analyzing the similarities and differences of the policy of decolonization in West Africa,France and Britain are in West Africa after World War II,the two largest colonial country,during this period,Britain and France because of the great changes of the international situation and the decline of its strength in politics,the United States and the Soviet Union as the two a superpower nation and West African countries independent national liberation struggle of the two colonial powers of the policy of decolonization,they worked in the West African colonies decolonization policy has the same great in nature,but they are in West Africa have different colonial history,colonial,colonial political system and the colonial experience,it determines the difference between their respective decolonization policy.
