A Study About The Group Of The Surrender Generals Of The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom

In the middle of the 19 th century,the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement broke out in China.Under the political call of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom,people in many parts of the country were called up to launch a fierce attack on the Qing Dynasty.The peasant uprising that shook the country ended in failure,but it inspired the resistance of the people.In the early days of the War of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom,there are few traitors in the Taiping Army,in the latter part of the war,almost all of the Taiping Army generals in every city and region had surrendered.Since ancient times,historians have no high opinion of those who surrendered,because one of the moral principles of personality in Chinese traditional culture is a man of integrity.The behavior of these surrender generals in critical moments,it doesn't show a little bit of integrity.Whether they should be judged,we can't generalize,it needs to be analyzed from the reasons of surrender.The situation in the battlefield is always changing,compared with the Qing Dynasty,the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom has always been a weak side,this is the direct cause of the large number of surrender generals.But specific to each of the Taiping Army generals,the reason of surrender is not the same.The generals were different from the time of surrender and the cause of surrender,when they surrendered,the Qing Army's attitude to them and their positions in the Qing Dynasty were different,it has a strong phase characteristic.Due to limited historical data,we don't have to get all the details of these surrender generals,but from the known data and typical examples of individual generals,we can draw a relative argument.In the latter part of the war,those who took part in the Jintian Uprising did not surrender when the situation deteriorated,these soldiers are always loyal to the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom,it is very different from those who surrendered,it is a question worth pondering.There are many different theories about the reasons why the generals surrendered in the later period of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom,In this paper,the author puts forward his own opinions from the native place,social composition and the location of the surrender.During the War of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom,the war produced a large number of displaced persons,they have become the main source of the Taiping Army.Forced by life,these displaced persons have very bad habits,they have no faith and pursue,they used to join the Taiping Army to survive,when the situation in the Taiping Kingdom deteriorated,they also surrender in order to survive.From the people of the Qing Dynasty to the displaced persons,from the displaced persons to the the soldiers of the Taiping Army,from the soldiers of the Taiping Army to the people of the Qing Dynasty again,it seems like a simple rule,in fact,there are profound social reasons.
