This is a translation report on Chapter 7 “Animals” and Chapter 8 “Futures: The Earth” of Ecocriticism by Dr.Greg Garrard. The whole monograph has been translated by a group of four. The Chapter 7 and Chapter 8 cover 1,6499 words in total, conforming to the academic degree requirement.Chapter 7 and Chapter 8 explore the relationship between human and nature from a critical perspective, examining how should human inflect and treat animals as well as the Earth. With the development of technology,as the machine and organism become ever more closely interfused, dualistic models are undermined again and again. The real is scarcely distinguishable from the simulated in the postmodern world.Human's two inflections of the Earth suggest possible futures for ecocriticism. With the guide of functional equivalence,I mainly adopt several translation skills such as conversion, amplification, reconstruction and so forth during the translation process in order to render the original text adequately and accurately, making the translated version clear, coherent and acceptable. This report elaborates the translation process, guiding theory, translation skills, key points in the process and the thoughts after translation. This translation practice helps me get a deeper understanding about translation, improve my competence and lay a sound basis for the future translation.
