In this work,the "fallen flowers" in the poetry of Tang Dynasty has been taken as the research object,and an in-depth analysis has been made from four aspects.The first chapter makes a general analysis of the "fallen flowers" in the literature before Tang Dynasty.According to the research in this work,the words of "fallen flowers" first appeared in Qi Xietiao’s "To Jingting Road" in the Southern Dynasties,and the first poem which dedicated specially to fallen flowers was Xiao Zifan’s "Fallen Flower" in Liang Dynasty.The second chapter makes a quantitative analysis of the literary creations of "fallen flowers" in the poetry of Tang Dynasty,and the situations of "fallen flowers" have been indicated visually through two tables named "The Statistics of ’Fallen Flowers’ in Tang Poetry" and "The Amount of ’Fallen Flowers’ by Tang Poets" respectively.In result,there are 55 kinds of "fallen flowers" in Tang poetry,involving more than 480 poets,and the number of verses is nearly 2800.In addition,two individual cases of the most popular fallen flower,poplar blossom,and the poet who has the most interest in fallen flowers,Bai Juyi,have been analyzed respectively.The third chapter expounds the emotional connotation of "falling flowers" in Tang poems,and sums up the sign of the spring,parting thought to suffering,the sadness of the dead and the leisurely feelings of comfort.Furthermore,this chapter elaborates the connotation by means of the combination of "falling flowers" and other kinds of imagery.Therefore,the emotional connotation and aesthetic features of the "fallen flowers" imagery in Tang poems have been depicted comprehensively based on the analysis of four groups of imagery,which are "rain and flowers","stream and flowers","snow and flowers",and "chirp and flowers".The fourth chapter summarizes and classifies the stories about "fallen flowers",then analyzes and expounds the ideological themes in these allusions,i.e.,the yearning to fairy land,the sigh for confidante youth,and the praise of celebrities.Based on the combing,statistics and analysis of "fallen flowers" in Tang poems,this paper draws the following conclusions:1)The imagery of "fallen flowers",which contains a wide variety and quantity,is very common in Tang poetry,and it is one of the most frequently depicted objects used by poets.2)There is a developing process of "fallen flowers" in Tang poems,and the imagery of"fallen flowers" becomes a mature application right during the period of Tang poetry.In the middle and late Tang Dynasty,the number of "fallen flowers" is significantly increased compared with that in the early Tang Dynasty,and the emotions placed to "fallen flowers" are much more rich and delicate.3)The emotional connotation of "falling flower" has been extensively expanded in Tang poetry.The imagery of "fallen flowers" in Tang Dynasty inherits the cherish of spring from previous dynasty,and lasts all the way through Tang poems.Moreover,the combination of"fallen flowers" and other kinds of imagery makes the emotional implication more abundant.4)The "fallen flowers" in Tang poetry also contains a wealth of ideological themes.The artistic value of "fallen flowers" has been improved obviously,which lays the foundation for the later creation of "fallen flowers"-related poems. |
