As the rapid development of the Era and the high-speed progress of the society,modern people enjoy the richly materials on one hand,on the other hand they bear the pressure from various aspects.Difficulties about life are always there,love,marriage and family,their problems become more complex,and they make people difficult to escape.As everybody knows that because of love we get married.That means love and marriage successively goes on.In fact,lots of marriages are not originated in love in the history of marriage.During ancient Greek and Roman times and the middle ages,marriage could promote the bonds of economy and politics between both sides.It's only 200 years that love was linked to marriage.Both in literature and in real life,there are too many marriages that have noting with love.Compare with love,marriage is more complicated.We are all amazed and in awe of the happy marriage,but,the dark of marriage should be highly valued.Because we're not lucky enough to own a happy marriage.Dark romance is common.It's not cute,it has traps,it makes people cry sadly.Family is part of society,where there is family,there is marriage,and where there is marriage,there is dark romance.Only we know why there is dark romance and learn lesson from the experience of others,can we get a happy marriage.This paper would compare the dark marriage between the British and America.America was once a British colony,its literature were mostly affected by British.So there are similarities in dark marriage's forms and reasons.In the first of this paper,the definition of dark marriage would be analysed.Compare with the tragic marriage and malformed marriage,we would like to fractionize unhappy marriage's different forms.At the same time,dark marriage should be analysed in combination with Dark Romanticism to point out the unique of dark marriage.The second part focuses on the comparative analysis of all kinds of dark marriage in British and America's literature.By the specific literary works,the similarities and differences of dark marriage's reasons,how person struggled and the final outcome would be compared through time bond,lust,dirty tricks and so on.The third part discusses female image from feminism perspective to reveal the trouble of the modern marriage.It is meaningful for us to reflect on the dark marriage.Marriage is just one form of the human life.The current institution of marriage is only a better choice,and it won't stay the same.Perhaps,the dark color is the only one color during the long marriage life,everyone should not be sticked by haze forever.What's more,it's significant to promote dark color positively.
