Li Yu's Anxieties

This thesis is based on anxieties theory and the materials and bibliography of Li yu and his poems and articles,discuss the reasons and the classification of his anxieties and the ways to lighten his anxieties.Li yu was born in 1611,died in 1680.He was born in Ming Dynasty and died in Qing Dynasty.His father was a businessman.When he was young,his dreamed to be an official through the examination.However,he failed because of some reasons.Therefore,he chose another way to go.He became a famous writer living on selling his books.In his times,this kind of living style made him rich and also brought him bad reputations.He also thought himself was a paradox man.He was so reasonable that he could think problem calmly.He also can create popular and excellent works.But,he cannot restraint his desires that arouse by beautiful girls and tasty food.He loved comfortable and luxurious life so much that he always cannot afford it.About those features in his personality,so many researchers had talked about them.And in my opinion,behind his paradox personality,the complicated anxiety was concealed.His poems and articles can reveal it most clearly.On one hand,those works always were neglected by researchers for their low literary level.On the other hand,some scholars thought his novels and dramas only show us a fake Li yu,his poems and articles were able to show us a real Li yu.Professor.Hanan disagreed this opinion.He said without those novels and articles written by Li yu,who cared the real Li yu.I don't agree with them either.I think only one Li yu.The one who was disguised is him.In the same time,the one who was very anxious and unhappy person was also him.Those excellent and interesting novels and dramas were written by him,and the average lever and unpopular poems and articles were also written by him.If we want to understand him rightly and deeply,we should take all of them seriously.I found a very anxious Li yu in his poens and articles.Hence,I decided to describe the reasons and classification of anxiety and the ways to lighten anxiety.I think the distance between the identity that he perused and his original identity,the expectance from himself and his family members which he could not meet,the times he was in and the inevitable troubles,the sins and the uncontrollable desires he had arouse his anxieties.On the classification,I think there can be four kind of anxiety:identity anxiety,healthy anxiety,economic anxiety and moral anxiety.In the end,there are four ways for him to lighten his anxiety.Firstly,the happiness of shower is a way.Secondly,the happiness of delicious food also works for him.Thirdly,the planting of different plants and the nature sceneries also made him happy.Finally,the unusual friendships he owned also made him feel warm.Above all,this thesis discusses the reasons and classification of anxieties and the ways to lighten the anxieties based on his poems and life story.
