| This practice report is based on the interpreting practice for the opening speech of the business talks between Holland Ajax Football Team and Feiyue Football Education Group in May 2016.Invited by Liaoning Football Development and Promotion Committee, the author worked as the interpreter for the opening speech.Different from other practice reports, this report intends to discuss the theoretical foundation of interpreting anxiety(IA),its influence on student interpreters’ verbal performance(SIVP)and its coping strategies.Under the instructions of Gile’s“the Effort Model”,Spielberger’s “Trail-State” Anxiety, and Cassady and Johnson’s Text Anxiety Mode, the author explores the illocutionary factors and locutionary factors that cause IA,three kinds of IA(auditory anxiety, memory anxiety and expressing anxiety)and three scales of IA(higher anxiety, medium anxiety and lower anxiety).Actually, both student interpreters’ verbal and non-verbal performance will be influenced by different levels of IA and this research focuses on SIVP such as repetition, broken sentences, lack of logical cohesion, lack of information completeness, and lack of terminology accuracy.Besides, some emotional adjustments and interpreting strategies, such as Memory Strategy and Simplification Strategy are also introduced to promote SIVP.In view of existing research findings, the author hopes to contribute to the IA researches through her own empirical practice. |
