In Chinese literary circle of the 1930s, with Zhou Zuoren, Lin Yutang as the representatives of the first generation of modern prose writers having entered middle age, along with the gradual maturity of the physiological age and mental age, they had quietly faded but the youthful enthusiasm and enterprising spirit, instead an intellectual, introverted, calm, middle-age dilute mentality and creative style. This dramatic change is not only to match individual development period, but also related to the era's development. In the past research, people take the social and political change as the primary opportunity for a writer. Meanwhile ignoring the age has consciousness during the creation process for the writer. Therefore, this article will choose Zhou Zuoren and Lin Yutang as a typical, based on the practice writers and works, the perspective of "consciousness in middle age", we rethink their midlife representation texts through the psychological analysis, comparative study and focus on exploring the inner influences on the age awareness and exploring form, even reveal the special educational value and aesthetic value of their "middle-aged charm".
