Abstract/Summary:
Women painting, as a very important part in Chinese history of art, flourished un til the late Ming Dynasty after thousands of tortuous development. In the late Ming D ynasty, the open-minded society and the strong humanistic art atmosphere made wom en painting gain widespread recognition and appreciation. In this period, women’s pai nting was intimately linked with their lifestyle and literary talent. All of the talented w omen emerging in late Ming Dynasty had extraordinary talent of poetry and painting. Then the relation between the women and painting was much closer than ever before. The women positively received painting education and they would draw in their own boudoirs. In addition, they would go out to paint from nature. In a word, the women f ully incorporated painting into their daily life. What’s more, they also mixed paintings into their poetic creation and created illustrated poetry with feminine character.In oth er words, painting and poetry became the theme of women’s works of art in late Ming and early Q ing Dynasty.The main idea of the paper is women painting in late Ming and early Qing Dynasty. In the paper, the main line is women’s life about painting and the auxiliary line is their poetic creation. And there are four aspects and they are the women’s creative features, the relation between painting and women’s life, the relation between painting and women’s inner world and the mixture of painting and women’s poetry. In the end, the paper takes the talented woman Li Yin for example and explains her lifetime, talent and illustrated poems. According to the example, the paper presents the real atmosphere of poetry and painting of the women in late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.
