Manifestation Of Translator's Subjectivity In Literary Translation

Following a general review of the translators' status and subjectivity on different historical stages, this paper explores the connotation of translators' subjectivity in the light of the Deconstruction Theory, the Pragmatic Adaptation Theory and the Manipulative Theory. Based on such a framework, the present paper subjects the Chinese Version of Same Kind of Different as Me to an examination in reference to translators' subjectivity, aiming at elucidating the specific manifestations of the translators' subjectivity with the application of exemplification and induction, and probing into the crucial influences which the restrictive factors such as ideology, patrons, cultural awareness and target readers play on translators' subjectivity. Through the analysis of the Chinese Version of Same Kind of Different as Me, it is found that the translator adopts several translation strategies which fully highlight the translators' subjectivity in the process of translation, such as flexible free translation, skillful deletion and shift of perspective. The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the factors influencing the translators' subjectivity and explore how to apply translators' subjectivity better in the process of translation so as to provide some reference or guidance for translators in the process of literary translation.
