The area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province, located in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, has historically been an important channel of ethnic migration and the spread of culture. Its unique natural ecological environment formed a cultural pattern, both individuality and commonness, with a small geographical area as the unit. This paper selects the bronze weapons with local characteristics as the research object, trying to analyze the typology and ages of bronze weapons unearthed in the area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province from the Eastern Zhou period to Han dynasties. And we can construct the space-time framework of the development of all kinds of bronze weapons in the area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province from the Eastern Zhou period to Han dynasties.Meanwhile,we will discuss some issues like its relationship with bronze weapons of the surrounding areas, their geographical differences and clans. The paper is divided into five parts:The first chapter is preface. It mainly explains the natural history of the area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province, and expounds the research situation of bronze weapon of this area. Also,we illustrate the reasons, meaning and methods of this topic. The second chapter is the typology analysis of bronze weapons unearthed in the area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province. In the premise of strictly following the principle of the typology,we make a typology analysis for the major bronze weapon including the sword, dagger, spear, tomahawk, arrowheads, peck and crossbow etc unearthed in this area. The third chapter is the dating and period division of bronze weapon in the area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province,According to the changing characteristics of bronze weapons and the time difference of various types of weapons,we ccombined the research results of the coexistence of artifacts and related relics in the area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province to divide its bronze weapon into five periods, from the spring and Autumn period to the late Western Han Dynasty. Then,we summarize the evolutional characteristics of the bronze weapons of the area. The fourth part is the comparison and zoning research for the bronze weapons in the area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province. After comparing ang analyzing the bronze weapons in this area with the surrounding areas,we found the bronze weapons in this area are full of cultural factors of the surrounding area from the beginning to the end,and the degree and manner of different cultural influences is also fully reflected in this area. The fifth chapter discusses some related problems.we firstly analyzes the weapon combination in the tombs of in the area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province,In the combination of weapons, sword always occupies the primary position.Dagger-axe and spear are also important.Taking a large number of typical Sichuan willow-shaped copper sword unearthed in Hezhang Kele site as a proof,we believe,at that time, between the Sichuan and Hezhang, there are folk trade routes to Hezhang in Guizhou province in the early Warring States period. And we combine the literature with archaeological materials predicting that ancient Shu state had implemented the policy of"arms control and embargo" on the southern areas. Finally we discuss the relationship between bronze weapons in the area of eastern Yunnan province and western Guizhou province in Qin and Han dynasty with "Yelang" culture. We agree this area is activities area of Yelang and the surrounding wapentakes documented in the literature, but we are still cautious for whether the bronze weapons in this area are the cultural relics of Yelang or not.
