Many research at home and abroad have consistently found that people's attitudes toward homosexuals have being more and more positive in recent years.Contrary to the negative comments on the website of sexual minorities and the negative coverage towards homosexuals. In this way,it is of great significance to study the current public attitudes towards homosexuals. At the same time, this study intends to find a suitable intervention technology to change the negative attitudes towards homosexuals through the method of empathy priming to improve the living environment of homosexuals. This study includes two parts. In study 1,we investigated the present situation of the explicit attitudes and implicit attitudes towards homosexuals among 289 college freshmen by the Attitudes Towards Lesbians and Gay Men Scale and SC-IAT.In study2,60 subjects who had a negative attitude towards homosexuals to be screened from study 1,was intervened in the experiment conducting with 2(empathy: high empathy state, low empathy state)* 3(measurement time: pretest, immediate post-test and delayed post-test),which were mixed with the two factors. Thus, the effects and the last time of empathy on the negative explicit and implicit attitudes towards homosexuals were investigated. Finally,we get the following conclusions:(1)There is positive explicit and negative implicit attitudes towards homosexuals among heterosexual college freshmen.Explicit attitude,it is more positive to Lesbian than Gay.There was no significant difference between male and female in implicit attitude.(2)There are significant differences in gender, origin, understanding of homosexuals, homosexual exposure and no significant difference in the only child to the explicit attitude toward homosexuals among heterosexual college freshmen. However, there was a significant difference in gender and no significant differences between the four variables: the source of students, the only child, the understanding of homosexuals and the exposure to homosexuals to the implicit attitude towards homosexuals.(3)It is not consistent with the explicit attitude and implicit attitude towards homosexuals among heterosexual college freshmen. There is a negative correlation between them and not significant.(4)The effect of the empathy is proved which is to the negative explicit attitude and the negative implicit attitude towards homosexuals and the negative implicit attitude towards Gay among heterosexual college freshmen, lasting at least half a month.(5)The effect of the empathy is not proved which is to the negative explicit attitude and the negative implicit attitude towards Lesbian among heterosexual college freshmen.
