Wuyi tea is the most important export commodities of Qing Dynasty,especially after the Opium War,in Fujian Province and even China.The mainly origin of Wuyi tea is today's prefecture-level city of Nanping City in Fujian Province,which belongs to Jianning Prefecture,Shaowu Prefecture and other areas in the late Qing Dynasty.The most important exporter of Wuyi tea is the United Kingdoms.After the Opium War,Wuyi tea accounting for the British imports of Chinese tea more than half or more.In this paper,we take the tea trade between Wuyi and Britain as a case,to explore the situation of Wuyi tea export trade of late Qing DynastyThis article mainly focus on the four aspects: First of all,we discuss the geographical environment and the natural environment of Lapsang Souchong,the geographical environment and natural environment of Dahongpao(Wuyi Yi Yan Tea),the special production relations of Wuyi tea,the production characteristics of Wuyi tea.Secondly,we discuss the transportation of Wuyi tea from Chong'an to British,to the trade process of Wuyi tea from Chong'an to British.Thirdly,we discuss the flourishing and decading of Chinese tea between China and British,the prosperity of Wuyi tea trade between China and British after the opening of Fuzhou,explore the decadence of Wuyi tea trade with Britain in the mid-eighteenth of nineteenth century.The Finally,we discuss the reasons of the decline of Wuyi tea trade wiht British,and what can we learn from Wuyi tea trade on today's Wuyi tea area and even the Chinese tea cultivation.In this paper,the method of system,the method of development,the method of qualitative and quantitative,the method of comparative analysis is adopted.Wuyi tea trade between China and British is a system which including planting,production,transportation,trade.Prosperity and decline are the two aspects of Wuyi tea trade between China and British,constitute the whole.Wuyi tea trade between China and British is not immutable,but a process of sustainable development,sustainable prosperity to decline gradually.We should see how prosperity wuyi tea in 1853-1886 is,also should notice how wuyi tea after 1886 is gradually replaced by India,Ceylon tea in England market.Wuyi tea trade between China and British is prosperity in 1853-1886,decline in 1886-1894,it is the whole situation;during this period,the quantity and proportion of wuyi tea in Chinese tea export,and the trade contrast of the number between Indian tea and Chinese tea which export to British during this period,this is a quantitative analysis.Wuyi tea trade between China and British,involved lapsang souchong and wuyi rock tea,we divided it into two parts,from the production area,analysis and compare the differences in product and environment,etc.Through these four chapters,we finally conclude that in 1843-1894 Wuyi tea trade with Britain experienced a process of rapid development to extremely prosperity and rapid decline.We may see the prosperity of Wuyi tea trade with British,but also see the the rapid decline of Wuyi tea from 1886.Belonging to the natural style of production,the inaction of the feudal government,the foreign monopoly,the rise of India and Ceylon tea trade,and other reasons.Hoping that we can learn something from the research.
