Deception is the intention of an individual to manipulate others’ incorrect thoughts through verbal or nonverbal behaviors.Spontaneous deception refers to the deception conducted by an individual for the purpose of a certain interest. Most of the study of spontaneous deception used money as the incentive. The outcome evaluation have an important influence on the adjustment of deception strategy in deception, and the effectiveness of P300 in deception intention process is questioned by some researchers. Therefore, recent study began to focus on the feedback process of deception,FRN(Feed-back related negativity)and P300 are two related ERP(Event-related potentials)components. In the past, the lie detecting study mainly used the experiment of required deception(guilty knowledge test, concealed information test)to explore the measurements for the polygraph, which is different from the deceptions in real life, which may lead to the reduction of the ecological validity of the experiment. Therefore, this study focuses on spontaneous deception. The study was performed using ERP technology, which was validated by two experiments. In experiment 1,the incentive was money(31 persons),while experiment 2 was induced by time reward(32 persons). The experimental task combined the deception timely feedback paradigm and the point distribution judgment task(Mazar & Zhong,2010;Fang et al.,2003).There were three types of inducement information,(High and low reward Conditions, and an irrelevant condition of "honesty").There were three types of feedback information(honest, successful deception, unsuccessful deception),and a total of 480 experimental trials. The P300 after the appearance of the inducement information(the process of intention)was processed with 2(Conditions: low Reward, high Reward)× 2(Reactions: honesty, deception)repeated variance analysis. The P300 and FRN from after the appearance of the feedback information(the process of feedback)was processed with 2(Conditions: low reward, high reward)× 3(Feedback: honesty, successful deception, unsuccessful deception)repeated variance analysis. The results showed that:(1)The responded main effect of P300 from the process of intention is not significant. There is no significant difference between honesty and deception;(2)The main effect of the P300 from the process of feedback is significant. The amplitude of unsuccessful deception feedback is the highest. The honest feedback is the minimum;(3)The main effect of the average of FRN is significant. However, the peek of FRN can only distinguish between successful and unsuccessful deception, there is no significant difference between honesty and successful deception.Following conclusions are drawn from above investigation:(1)The P300 from the process of intention is not a stable polygraph measurement.(2)The P300 from the process of feedback is a stable polygraph measurement.(3)The average of FRN from the process of intention is an effective polygraph measurement;the peek of FRN can not distinguish between honesty and deception.
