| According to the Common Ingroup Identity Model(CIIM),trough the processes of recategorization, members of different groups are included to conceive of themselves as a single, more inclusive superordinate group rather than as two completely separate groups. The processes that lead to favouritism towards ingroup members would now be directed towards former outgroup members and attitudes and behaviors towards former outgroup members would become more positive.Researches in this field always focus on the majority group, and do good to the minority group by improving their outgroup attitudes. The present research will combine common ingroup identity model with urban children, trying to throw a new perspective into the study of immigrants, integration. The present study is based on the urban children in Shanghai. Two studies are included to explore the effect of common ingroup identity on intergroup helping and autonomy-oriented helping, and the mediate role intergroup anxiety plays.Study 1 conduct a survey to 226 urban children, and explores the relationship between common ingroup identity, intergroup anxiety and intergroup helping.Study 2 conduct an experiment based on the conclusion of study 1.It manipulates the degree of common in group identity through the information about the group relationship between urban children and immigrant children. Results indicate that:(1)common ingroup identity can reduce realistic threat, and increase the intention to offer help and autonomy-oriented help;(2)only when the values of urban children still remains in the superordinate group, can common ingroup identity reduce symbolic threat;(3)only when common ingroup identity reach a certain level can it reduce negative stereotypes;(4)realistic anxiety plays an mediate role in the relationship between common ingroup identity and autonomy-oriented helping;(5)only when common ingroup identity is high,do realistic anxiety and negative stereotypes have multiple mediating effects between common ingroup identity and autonomy-oriented help. |
