The Study On "Bandits" Narrative In The Contemporary Novels Of Shandong

This dissertation puts the "bandits" that exist in contemporary novels of Shandong as the research object and mainly explores the "bandits" narrative which includes the"bandits" images,the narrative strategy of these novels and its historic and cultural connotation based on the context of writings and combined with relevant social history and intellectual history.The first chapter defines the "bandits" and explores the historic and cultural resources of Shandong contemporary writers about the "bandits" narrative from two aspects of history and cultural tradition.Through analysis,this dissertation argues that the ambiguousness of "bandits" makes these novels more complex and rich when compared with other literary types.The fact that Shandong once had a serious banditry provides these writers with rich materials.The description of conventional"bandits" literary works before the founding of the People's Republic of China and Chinese traditional culture of Confucianism,Mohism,and even the thought of vagrant culture,also play an important role in Shandong contemporary writer's "bandits"theme creation.The second chapter and the third chapter respectively explore 50s-70s,80s-90s,and the new century "bandits" narrative,which include "bandits" images,the different narrative strategy of each stage,and reveal its historical and cultural connotation behind.Through close reading and analysis of "bandits" narrative text,this dissertation argues that the "bandits" narrative in contemporary novels of Shandong experiences three stages,which are from "Discipline and Punish" of 50s-70s to"Revise and Rewrite" of 80s-90s,and then presents the tendency of returning to traditional culture in the new century.Each stage of the "bandits" narrative has a leading discourse,but sometimes also presents the cooperation and discord between tradition and modernity,political discourse and folk discourse.At the same time,although these stages have a fracture,they also hold an intrinsic link.Besides,the main purpose of author's "bandits" narrative is not to restore the real existence of"bandits" images in history,but to involve the history and reality that based on the present with the help of "bandits" images who have specific historical and cultural connotation.Therefore,these novels present the complexity of the relationship between the history,novel and narrative.In conclusion,this dissertation mainly summarizes the various stages of the evolution process of "bandits" narrative and its inner link,and put forward some topics about this kind of subject that can be further research.
