| This thesis is a report based on the Chinese-English translation of the overview part of 2015(13th)Sichuan TV Festival International "Gold Panda" Awards for TV Drama.The source text aims at giving brief introduction to the competition and related background,describing final awarded TV dramas,nominations and the official selections,as well as helping the readers know about the organizers and jurors.The author translates 67,694 words while this translation task has 96,795 words in total.Under the guidance of Skopos theory,the author adopted various translation strategies in the translation process so as to meet the demand of the clients.The author presents the overview part of the translation task as the case,analyzes the difficulties in the translation process and the corresponding solutions,and gives summary based on the translation task as a reference for translating text of similar types.This thesis consists of five parts:the first chapter is the introduction to the translation task,including its background,purpose,requirements and difficulties;the second chapter is the theoretic guidance of this translation task;the third chapter describes the translation process,including pre-translation,preparation of background knowledge and translation tools,implementation and post-translation,etc.,the forth chapter is the case study,which analyses the translation strategies the author adopted in dealing with problems at lexical,syntactical and rhetorical level respectively;the fifth chapter gives summary about the major implication,problems,reflections as well as suggestions.This report aims to help future translators know various translation resources and increase their knowledge in TV drama industry.Besides,by improving professional skills and maintaining active communication with clients,translators can produce better translations with higher efficiency and quality. |
