A Report On The Chinese English Translation Of The Culture-loaded Words In Financial News

Financial news is the related coverage of all social and economic life of a country.There are many culture-loaded words in financial news which are not only the carrier of traditional culture,but also may constitute a possible hindrance in the translation of financial news.The practical report addresses the Chinese-English translation methods of culture-loaded words in financial news excerpted from the renowned domestic financial websites such as China Business News and Fenghuang Finance as translation texts.In this report,the culture-loaded words in financial news are classified into three categories,namely,proper nouns,political and economic characteristic words as well as idioms.As case analysis,four Chinese-English translation methods are elucidated as follows:transliteration plus annotation,literal translation,literal translation plus annotation and liberal translation.However,these four ways are not the exhaustive choices or alternatives.Specific cases should be analyzed in specific ways,so that the faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance of the translation can be achieved.The author of this report hopes that the discussion can help illuminate some translation issues and facilitate the transmission of the Chinese culture.
