This is an interpreting report. There are varieties of interpreting including speech interpreting, conference interpreting, and liaison interpreting. Therein, speech interpreting happens on the occasion of speech. Speech interpreting is different from other forms of interpreting because speakers are often well-known politicians, professors and business magnates. The occasion of speech interpreting often includes international economic or political meeting, opening ceremony and academic forum. Consecutive interpreting of informal speech discussed in this paper is one form of speech interpreting. Consecutive interpreting of informal speech takes place on small occasion and contents of the speech are colloquial. Interpretative Theory is extensively applied in the field of interpreting and translation, thus consecutive interpreting of informal speech under its guidance is referential to other interpreters.The author analyses the speaker's original text, the speaker, the audience and the performance of the interpreter before and after interpreting the informal speech, trying to combine the Interpretive Theory with practice. After analyzing the speaker's original text in his informal speech, the author concludes the factors that influence consecutive interpreting of informal speeches, such as memory and notes, complexity of the original text of the speech, accent and intonation of speakers, psychological quality of interpreters and the expertise of interpreters and put forward the strategies from the perspective of Interpretive Theory. The strategies include understanding the original language of the informal speech, de-verbalization of the original language and reformulation by interpreters. The author tries to draw some lessons through field practice of consecutive interpreting of informal speech, thus providing the feasible advice for other interpreting learners.
