The 1950s is a special era in American history, after World War Ⅱ America became the world’s largest power; its political, economic and military power reached its peak. But at that time the United States is faced with many thorny problems, the 1960s’ Women’s Movement, the Student movement, and the Black Civil Rights Movement has shown off then, especially in the women’s issues. Thanks to the stimulation of World War Ⅱ and postwar American economic development, more and more traditional American women went out of the family and participated in the social public life, but which is not consistent with the transition of women’s roles in American society is that the American society still treated women under the guidance of the traditional conservative view. No matter in the family or society, women are faced with a lot of injustice and discrimination, the most pressing task before the American women at that time is to break the shackles of the traditional conservative view and rebuild American women image in the new era. In 1961, at the joint efforts of labor women and President Kennedy, American government eventually set up a commission to specially research the status of women and improve the condition of America. In less than three years, President Kennedy’s Commission on the Status of Women have made great contributions to improving the status of women as well as the improvement of women’s status in society, which is of great significance and has a far-reaching influence.
