It's a novel about Afghanistan history in the past. The novel sets against the war in Afghanistan and describes the hardship Afghan women suffered over the past 30 years with their lost love, dream, hope and the loss of reality.Existentialism is one of the most important schools of philosophy, and Satre is the representative of it. Satre's philosophy viewpoint can be summarized from three points: existence precedes essence, the world is absurd and life is painful and free choice. Satre believes that Existentialism deepens humanitarianism, and the core of Existentialism is on humanity. It focuses on study of humanity and admits that human being is in certain environment. It stresses the value of human being and the responsibility of human. One can see existence and choice of human being exist in A Thousand Splendid Suns.A Thousand Splendid Suns describes the difficulties and sufferings of two Afghan heroines which reflects the pain and hardship of Afghans in the past 30 years. It embodies the choice and struggle of human being under the difficult living conditions. Finally, two heroines conquer obstacles and ordeals and realize their own survival value. By interpreting A Thousand Splendid Suns from the perspective of Existentialism, this paper tries to provide a new viewpoint for other literary works and to make people rethink what we should do about wars.
