During the period in Haoyi Coconut Fibre Manufacturing Co. Ltd., the interpreter's job is mainly interpreting for the Malaysian engineer both at work such as purchasing machines, setting up the lab, recruitment, and in daily life such as going shopping, home appliance maintenance. It is a great challenge for the interpreter who is faced with different situations and makes interpretation.According to theory of adaptation, the usage of language is a kind of social action. Since it belongs to social action, researches of discourse meaning should be connected with cognitive, social and cultural factor. During the internship tasks, the interpreter should interpret the meaning of source language on the basis of understanding speakers and choosing suitable words or sentences to adapt to the situation and achieve the goal of smooth communication. The report mainly discusses interpreter's adaptability from linguistic, situational and cultural adaptability during the internship tasks. For linguistic adaptability, the interpreter should choose proper words and adjust sentence structure according to contexts. For social adaptability, the interpreter should pay attention to the space and time, formality of the situation, interpreting object's mood, and communicative parties' status, unnecessary misunderstandings both at work and in daily life. For cultural adaptability, the interpreter should respect the interpreting object and overcome the cultural barriers.The internship tasks require the interpreter should be qualified in linguistic competence to interpret effectively and master the ability of analyzing and coping with different situations. At the beginning of internship tasks, company has trained the in professional background knowledge, social skills and business etiquettes to make up interpreter's shortcoming in a lack of social practice. The interpreter also makes good preparation to successfully complete the internship tasks.
