Happiness is a topic of platitude. For thousands of years, philosophers, poets, socialists, economists and psychologists at all times and in all places have been engaged in exploring the definition and quantitative criteria of happiness as well as the ways to achieve it. Each of the individuals that set out on the path of seeking happiness aspires to achieve the most genuine happiness rather than an illusionary Utopia. In recent years, there have been frequent breakouts of adolescent problems, such as suicides, school bullying, and fights and brawling. These are not simply conflicts among adolescents, but serious social problems in urgent need for resolution. For the special group of vocational students, subjective well-being not only reflects their mental quality but also acts to some extent as a comprehensive assessment for their overall quality of life. For vocational students in puberty, what they face is how to prevent self-identity confusion from happening, and the encouragement from their peers and guidance from models are crucial factors for them to survive this crisis. This thesis conducted an investigation on part of the students of Ulanqab City Vocational High School in Inner Mongolia, focusing on the exploration of the following: the current subjective well-being level and self-identity achievement situation of vocational students in Ulanqab City of Inner Mongolia; the differences of subjective well-being between genders and among different grades; the influence of self-identity on the vocational students' subjective well-being, etc.. The aim of this research is to improve the understanding about vocational students and in the meanwhile to enrich the research on subjective well-being, self-identity, and peer relationship in hope of providing suggestions for increasing subjective well-being of vocational students. This research employed Subjective Well-Being Scale, Self-Identity Status Scale, and a peer relationship questionnaire to conduct surveys on the 500 students in Ulanqab City Vocational High School. The SPSS17.0 operational software was adopted to analyze the data results, the independent sample t was used for examination, and variance, correlation analysis and other statistics methods were used for the research on the relationships among self-identity, peer relationship and subjective well-being. It is expected to examine whether there are some differences among different types of samples, whether peer relationship and self-identity play a role of prediction on subjective well-being, and whether peer relationship plays an intermediary role between self-identity and subjective well-being.The research results indicate that:1. More than half of the vocational students are in the diffusion state of self-identity;2. Self-identity of vocational students presents significant differences in terms of gender and the student being only child or not, but shows no difference in grade;3. Peer relationship of the vocational students only presents difference in the variable of gender;4. “Current devotion” displays a significant positive correlation with “past crisis” and “future devotion”, a significant positive correlation with positive emotion and life satisfaction, and a significant negative correlation with negative emotion;5. Peer relationship displays a significant correlation with “current devotion” and “future devotion” in self-identity;6. “Peer relationship”, “self-identity” and “subjective well-being” are closely related to one another. Two of the three dimensions of vocational students' self-identity have direct influence on the negative emotion in subjective well-being, i.e., “current devotion” and “future devotion”, while past crisis shows no direct association with negative emotion. Besides, current devotion and future devotion can not only directly predict the subjectivity well-being of vocational students, but also affect negative emotion via the role of peer relationship.7. Peer relationship plays a completely intermediary role in the impacts of “current devotion” and “future devotion” on negative emotion.
