| A Bite of China season 2, which subordinate to the documentary type of Chinese diet culture broadcasted by CCTV and it shows traditional Chinese diet culture. According to the first and the second episode of A Bite of China Season 2, this popular film shows the beauty of Chinese language as well as includes abundant cultural default phenomena. How to deal with the cultural default correctly has gradually became very important in the process of translation. Firstly, according to the analysis of the content of A Bite of China Season 2, this paper summarizes three kinds of cultural default including diet cultural default, folk cultural default and idiom cultural default. Secondly, from the case studies of these cultural defaults, the author put forwards specific strategies to compensate cultural default in translation, such as omission translation, literal translation, amplification translation and paraphrase translation. Through these compensation methods, the author demonstrates the effectiveness of compensation. The compensation methods help the reader understand the source text quickly as well as achieve the goal of cultural communication. |
