Based on textual reading, this thesis discusses intersextual relationships in of Mei Niang's works. And it reveals her value care for females and humanity. Apart from Introduction, there are three parts altogether. The first two parts reveals MeiNiang's thoughts on intersexual relationships through a conclusion of different types of intersexual relationships and a retrospect of causes for different intersexual relationships. The third part is about the deep implications of intersexual relationships in the novel. It's a sublimation based on the implications of intersexual relationships in Mei Niang's novel. The first part mainly introduces types of intersexual relationships in the novel. The first one is the imbalanced intersexual relationships, and it includes male-oriented intersexual relationships and mental love without the presence of men. Male-oriented intersexual relationships includes two minor types, yearning-escape and subordination-possession intersexual relationships. It is very common to see these imbalanced intersexual relationships in the novel. They are manifested in the novel as men's possession of women and women as a subordination to men; women's yearning for love and men's escape from love. Male-oriented intersexual relationship is the main type of imbalanced intersexual relationships. Apart from male-oriented intersexual relationships, there are absent men. The absence of men in Mei Niang's works shows its resistance against male-oriented intersexual relationships. This not only shows us women's awakening, but also makes us realize the imbalance in intersexual relationships. The second type is imbalance-to-harmony intersextual relationships. It shows the awakening of female subject consciousness and yearning for harmonious intersexual relationships in specific. Although it's difficult to realize, we see Mei Niang's relentless pursuit of harmonious intersexual relationships in the novel. In the second part, we analyze causes for Mei Niang's perspectives on both sexes. Firstly, since the existence of the human race, men has been the dominator except the short period of matriarchal clan society. They view women as the object of desires, the second sex. Therefore, women have been bearing the identity of “the other”. That is manifested by rituals of both sexes in traditional biosexual view on men and women. Secondly, the influence of the social background that Mei Niang was in. Political and cultural background of the enemy-occupied area in the 1930 s and 1940 s causes the absence of grand political themes in Mei Niang's works. The third part discusses Mei Niang's strong female consciousness and different perspectieves on humanity through the shaping of intersexual relationships. Mei Niang speaks for women by the theme of intersexual relationships, and she criticizes the suppression of male-oriented society and shows strong female consciousness and vague feminist thoughts. Behind the study of Mei Niang's intersexual relationships is her multiple care for humanity.
