The post-modern literature research has been one of the most popular research areas in recent years and many Chinese and western scholars focus their researches on the modes of themes, narrative strategies or logical connotation of post-modern works. Kathy Acker is regarded as one of the bravest and most creative writers for her rebellious consciousness and unconventional writing styles whose literary works are taken with the experimental significance. This thesis mainly analyzes two types of language games-parody and paradox-in Kathy Acker’s punk fiction Great Expectations on the basis of post-modern literary theory, aiming to figure out the rebellious spirit of punk rock under the post-modern narrative techniques, to explore the themes hided between the lines, as well as to wake up people to rethink the relationship between money, sex and love, and even the politics, culture or values of society. The research of this thesis can favor the study of post-modern literature works to some extent.
