This thesis conducts a research on Robert Frost's poetry, the theme of which is about country. Based on his poetry, interview, biography, comments and researches, this thesis attempts to reveal the features hidden in his countryside poetry and then distinguish them. The poetry of Robert Frost which depicts nature is closely related to life and it is a survival of the poems which are sublime words with deep meanings. This thesis discusses the reason why Robert Frost influenced literature in American, even in the world.The main part of the thesis starts from the analysis of Robert Frost's symbolism which was talked about many previous scholars. His poetry is abundant in meanings, which is worthy of interpreting. To interpret Robert's poetry, people have to know the symbolic meanings in his poetry. Secondly, this thesis investigates his misunderstanding to pastoral poets. By interpreting his depiction of nature, this thesis finds that Robert's poetry is the survival of poems. He is regarded as an easily-understood poet by readers. The third part of the thesis tries to investigate Robert Frost's writing motivation, literary pursuit and the relationships between the creation of poetry and life, which is of great help to understand Frost's poetry. In the end, by analyzing Frost's special literary status and influences on the world literature, the thesis studies Frost's influence on contemporary Chinese poets. Robert's poems are not only unique in American literature but also contributive to human beings' exploration and progress of poetry.
