The prefaces and postscripts of Qu Pu whose content is abundant and whose quantity is considerable is the important literature reference of the research on the Qu Pu and musical theory. The generalized concept of preface and postscript that this paper adopted includes prefaces, postscripts, inscription, explanatory notes and pandect belonged to the non text part. This text mainly discusses the prefaces and postscripts of Chinese ancient Qu Pu,and have collected a total of 37,the various versions of prefaces and postscripts total 78, guide to the use of music scores total 25, doctrines and other total 14.Prefaces and postscripts of different nature for the content of this paper is divided into two parts, historical and theoretical research.In the historical course of the study, my study is divided into three parts according to the information provided by prefaces and postscripts of Qu Pu including the information of Qu Pu-compiling,pedigree information of Qu Pu,and the information about lost Qu Pu. In the first part, the prefaces and postscripts help us to get the time, background and purpose of Qu Pu codification,and the author's life story and the information about version and publication in the process of spreading.China's ancient Qu Pu exit two system of Nanqu and Beiqu who have their own relationship in inheritance and development.Early Qu Pu like Zhong Yuan Yin Yun Nan Ci Jiu Pu Nan Ci Quan Pu were compiled in order to make specification for perple who write words.After Qing Dynasty,people made Qu Pu also for others who made Qu Pu.The preface and postscript contain some information about several Qu Pu which haye been lost.This paper has found out: Jiu Gong Shi San Diao Kulouge Mo Han Zhai Ci Pu Sui Yuan Pu.For these findings, enrich and perfect the history of Qu Pu.The prefaces and postscripts contain a large number of musical theory and metre theory.There are palace conditioning,orderliness rhyming,added words and guilty of tune etc. These theories directly promoted the development of ancient Chinese opera rhythm theory and music theory.The standard of selecting Quzi is different that reflecting the different theoretical claim of authors.Through systematically combed and studied about the ancient Chinese music,I found it contained three features:The author strongly emphasizes the practicality for a creation.The author very high value the inheritance of Qu Pu.The authors stress Qu Pu produced in conjunction with the practice.
