The project report is based on the reporter’s personal interpreting practice in "2015 The International Conference on the Administration of the Small Theatre’", and aims to discuss the diversity of interpreters’roles in dialogue interpreting. Most previous project reports center on the linguistic ability and skills of the interpreters in the working modes of consecutive and simultaneous conference interpreting. However, this report focuses on the roles of interpreters in dialogue interpreting. Unlike conference interpreting, dialogue interpreting requires the interpreters to have more interactions and involvement in the process of interpreting due to its spontaneity and three-way exchange. Participating in this project, the reporter experienced the dialogue interpreter as a message deliver, a communication participant and an inteicultural mediator to facilitate the communication.The project report describes the difficulties with the examples cited from the transcripts and analyzes the causes of the difficulties. Alter the review of previous studies and reflections, the reporter puts forward specific solutions accordingly. To overcome the difficulties before interpreting, the reporter suggests daily accumulation and getting involved in related activities to gain more materials and prepare the glossary. In terms of the multi-roles for a dialogue interpreter, the reporter proposes to raise subjectivity awareness and cross-cultural awareness. During the process of a dialogue interpreting, the interpreter can apply different tactics such as imitating the speaker, asking and explaining and managing the turns. In everyday life, an interpreting learner should have a sense of cultivating cross-cultural ability by improving critical thinking ability, promoting the understanding of both Chinese culture and western culture and reinforcing interpreting practice. |
