This paper is a translation practice report, and the selected text is Flat Stanley, which is one of a dozen of children's literature works written by American children's literature writer Jeff Brown. The English original edition of the book has been published in February 18,2003 and the book has no Chinese version so far. The translator selected one volume of the book and carried out the translation. In the process of translation, Skopos theory was used as the main theoretical guidance, and children readers'feelings were placed on the first place.Good tools are essential things. The preparation and use of the reference books is an essential part for accomplishment of a translation project. Before the start of the translation task, the author had made plenty of preparations to learn the relevant knowledge, so that the translation work can proceed more smoothly, and the accuracy and readability of the translation can be secured to the utmost. Firstly, the author read through the original novel and found that there are a lot of person names, place names and slang in the novel. By the network, the author collected related information about the novel to understand the historical background and the information of writer. Moreover, the reference books that may be needed in the translation process were also prepared in advance, such as Names Peoples and The English-Chinese Dictionary. At the same time, the web dictionary was used, such as Lingoes and Youdao online translation tools. In addition, by means of daily contact with children, the author made a detailed analysis of the psychology, physiology and speeches of children, hoping that these young readers can learn some knowledge and broaden their horizons in reading the story. The translation report can be divided into four parts. The first part is the introduction. The author introduced the background, content and significance of the translation project as well as the structure of the report. In the second part, the author carried out relatively detailed analysis on the development and current situation of children's literature, and described the characteristics of children's literature at length. Besides, the author also introduced the development of Skopos theory and the translation principles. The main contents of the fourth part include the issues encountered in translation and the specific countermeasures, which were proposed with the theory of translation as the basis, and considered from the point of view of readers'reception. In the last part of the report, the author summarized the lessons learned in translation practice and pointed out some problems to be solved. The significance of the report lies in that, through the translation examples and practice experience of the author, the translation process has been analyzed, the principles and specific methods for English-Chinese translation of children's literature have been summed up, and suggestions have been put forward for practice and development of children's literature translation.
