| The article places public art in the context of the development of contemporary art,integrating it with its background of literary and artistic ideological trends since the beginning of the 20 th century, in order to discuss the rise of ’body culture’, and practices in which the "body being present" were central in contemporary art.Through analysis of case studies, it becomes evident that a return to the concepts of "body", "perception", and "being present" emerged in artistic practices. Study the "body" which possesses publicness delineates a place for aesthetic appreciation and creative self-shaping in the on-going process of artistic communication. So to explore the nature of the "publicness" of the "body-being-present" in contemporary artistic practices, probes into the question of normalization of aesthetics in our current daily lives.I will start from the perspective of my personal study experience in the introductory part, to discuss the realistic predicaments of the concept of "body" in consumer society and the problems that we may face in the present process of communication in public art. From then on, the discussion opens up to the nature of "being public"under the background of "body culture", as well as ways in which the "body being present" is embodied as human care in artistic practices. In the context of the current,artists may pay more attention to the "body being present” so as to redirect the subject of aesthetic appreciation to reach its most public potential in the process of artistic communication. |
