Drugs are the enemies for human, it does not only cause serious physical illness and psychological problems, bring about severe social economic and public health problems. In the drug clinical practice, it has been found that the physiological detoxification was easy, but it was difficult for drug addicts to quit heart addiction. I found that most of the drug addicts had suffered from childhood trauma when I did internship in a compulsory rehabilitation centers located in Lanzhou city. Whether is there a link between this poor experience and drug behavior? After reviewing literature, we found that drug addiction is associated with many factors, including mental health, self-concept and childhood trauma mentioned. Several studies suggested that the childhood trauma of individual was closely associated with abnormal psychology and behavior disorder, and even caused serious psychological problems and mental illness, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorder, antisocial behavior, substance abuse, and so on. At the same time, the childhood trauma easily leads to negative self-concept, and self concept is another important factor affecting mental health, which suggests that there is a strong relationship between childhood trauma, the individual's self-concept and mental health. The lower level of self assessment and mental health could directly affect the withdrawal of drug addicts, resulting in high relapse rate. Then, whether childhood trauma can predict individual addiction behavior and mental health? What is the role of self-concept in it? What is the role of three factors and their relationship? Therefore, this research aims at exploring the relationship between childhood trauma,self-concept and mental health through the way of questionnaire and interview.Adopting Opiate Addiction Severity Inventory(OASI) revised by Lian Zhi and Liu Zhiming, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire(CTQ) revised by doctor Zhao Xingfu,Tennessee Self Concept Scale(TSCS) revised by Lin Bangjie in Taiwan and Symptom Checklist(SCL-90) revised by Wang Zhengyu in 1984, selecting 625 male drug addicts in a drug rehabilitation of Lanzhou city as participants. But the number of valid questionnaire was 554, the valid return rate was 88.6%, the valid data wasconducted statistical analysis including a series of descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance, linear regression analysis and mediating effect test by using SPSS 17.0, the study results are as follows:(1) the addiction severity of male drug addicts was in turn: psychological dependence, social function impairment, body damage and physical dependence;and the main drugs are heroin and methamphetamine;(2) the abuse cases were common for male drug addicts, especially to emotional neglect and physical neglect;(3) the childhood trauma and self-concept was significant negative correlation and mental health; the self-concept and mental health was remarkable positive correlation;(4) the self-concept played a partially mediating effect between childhood trauma and mental health, and the partial mediating effect accounted for 16.11% of the total effect.Through analyzing and discussing, we can drew conclusions as following:Firstly, the childhood trauma addicts phenomenon exists generally;Secondly, childhood trauma and self-concept for drug addicts, self concept can directly influence mental health;Thirdly, childhood trauma can affect mental health directly, also can indirectly improve the level of mental health by adjusting self-concept.Therefore, to establish self-confidence and to improve the self assessment is a best way for drug addicts to form a positive self-concept, weakening bad effects of childhood trauma, so the goal of mental health and the success of drug abstinence can make it come true.
