Based on the normal methods of group music therapy,start from musical knowledge teaching,an appreciative form of group music therapy treat the college students who suffer from social anxiety by applying methods such as music analysis and expression to achieve the purpose of relieve anxiety emotion,improve abilities of music,and promote sound development of personality.There are two researches including in this thesis,one is using Social Avoidance and Distress Scale(SAD)to survey the anxiety situation of 499 college students selected from grade one and grade two;the other is applying intervention of social anxiety students by using an appreciative form of group music therapy,and to compare the difference of anxiety situation and musical ability of the patients before and after.Objective: To research situation of social anxiety of college student and check the availability of an appreciative form of music therapy by treating the students who suffer from the social anxiety.Method: With stratified cluster sampling,161 students selected from grade one and two of WanNan Medical College were surveyed using self-made scale and Social Avoidance and Distress Scale(SAD).Then 29 students who suffer from social anxiety which SAD scores higher than 17 screened out as the study object,and divided into two groups randomly.The control group has 15 students and the other 14 in theexperimental group.There would be no any method put on the control group.On the other side,member of the experimental group would be treated by an appreciative form of group music therapy and surveyed using Self-made General Scale,Social Avoidance and Distress Scale(SAD),Interaction Anxiousness Scale(IAS),Musical Ability Selfrating Scale to assess the effects of intervention.Results:(1)32.3% of 499 college students suffer from social anxiety,and there is significant difference in grade dimension(p<0.05).(2)29 study objects completed the collection of entire research data,14 from experimental group and 15 from control group.The demographic data of two groups are comparable and no significant difference between them(p>0.05).(3)Comparing between experimental group and control group of before and after implementation of group music therapy intervention: Before,there is no significant difference between two groups in the scores of Social Avoidance and Distress Scale(SAD),Interaction Anxiousness Scale(IAS),Musical Ability Self-rating Scale(p>0.05).After,there are significant difference in scores of dimension of social avoidance and musical ability(p<0.05),the score of SAD,IAS and each dimension of experimental group were both lower than the control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(p> 0.05).(4)Comparing within each of experimental group and control group before and after implementation of group music therapy intervention: Within experimental group,the score of SAD,IAS and each dimension after the intervention were lower than before,and the difference were highly statistically significant(p<0.01),the score of Musical Ability Self-rating Scale after the intervention was higher than before,also the difference was highly statistically significant(p<0.01),the score of appreciation of music dimension after the intervention was higher than before,but the difference was not statistically significant(p>0.05).Within control group,the score of SAD,IAS after the intervention were lower than before and no significant difference(p>0.05),the score of Musical Ability Self-rating Scale after the intervention was higher than before and nosignificant difference(p>0.05).Conclusions:(1)1/3 students in selected research college are suffering from social anxiety and it could be a serious problem.(2)An appreciative form of group music therapy can improve musical ability and relieve anxiety from interpersonal activities in certain extent.(3)An appreciative form of group music therapy can be used as an effective intervention method to enhance social anxiety of college student.
