Irish composer John Field started the genre of piano nocturne. The emergence of this kind of romantic lyric piece affects other romantic composers like Chopin, Liszt, Field's creation of piano nocturne. The reason why the paper focuses on the impact of Chopin and Liszt's nocturne creation is that these two composers are the most representative composers during romantic period. This paper will carry out an research and discussion from following two chapters.The first chapter introduces the Field's nocturne. The author starts from Field, the pioneer of piano nocturne, and makes a brief conclusion of Field' nocturne from his creating styles. By reading this chapter, the readers can grasp the style of nocturne in early times. In the second chapter, the author discusses the influence that Field has on Chopin's early nocturne creation from the perspective of his influence on both Chopin's and Liszt's creation. Finally, the author analyzes how Liszt's nocturnes inherited Field' creating features. It's quietly likely for us to have an overall understanding on the formation and development of nocturne by exploring new contents and their different development modes which were given by Chopin and Liszt.
