Konjakumonogatarishu is also known as Konjakumonogatari,which consists of Buddhist stories in the late Heian period of Japan,is a very important literary description and documentation for understanding the social and cultural life in that time.Konjakumonogatarishu is not only a source of creativity for Ujishuimonogatari,Kokonchomonju and other legendary literature series in the late Kamakura period,but also profoundly on modern Japanese literature.Akutagawa Ryunosuke's literary works were almost all taken from Konjakumonogatarishu,to a large extent it has played a great role in creating Akutagawa's short stories and artistic styles.Zhou Zuoren also commented that “It has the extremely important position for literature circulated in future generations.For its properties which assemble almost all kinds of legendary literature,it is valuable for the world literature.That's the reason why it was regarded as a treasure trove of literary materials.”In this paper,the literary image of “Fox” provides a new perspective for the study of Konjakumonogatarishu.Furthermore,according to historical periods,the image of “Fox” in Chinese and Japanese literature's evolution and development were clarified,similarities and differences between Chinese and Japanese literature by “Fox” were summarized.This paper presents my opinion for divided the image of “Fox” in Konjakumonogatarishu into three types.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is about Introduction,which is divided into three sections.The second chapter classified the image of “Fox” in Konjakumonogatarishu.The third chapter analyzes three different types for the literary image of “Fox”.The fourth chapter summarized the image of “Fox” in Chinese and Japanese literature,and the “Fox” in Japanese classic literature are under the influence of China.The fifth chapter is divided into two sections,illustrates the difference and common between the image of “Fox” in Chinese and Japanese literature in the historical period,so as to explain the original influence of Chinese classical literature on Japanese literature.
