| With the intensive communication between China and the west in all fields and the fast development of modern technology, communication of news plays an indispensable role in our daily life. We pay more attention to international affairs for both our economy and politics have made astonishing advance. Our increasing level of education has laid a foundation for our better understanding of news English. As a special literary style, news English is characterized by timeliness, information and accuracy. Besides, acronyms, common sayings and exotic expressions are widely used in news English, which make it harder for Chinese readers to understand. Therefore, the translation of news English is of great importance.Guided by Relevance Theory, the author analyzed English news articles during the internship at Global Network. In accordance to the translation practice, the author discussed some common translation methods and strategies adopted in the editing and translating of news. What’s more, the author also shared the experience as an intern translator that how to translate the news to match the cognitive mode of Chinese readers on the basis of logical order of news. The purpose of translation is to realize the optimal relevance of the information that news delivers.This translation practice report consists of four parts: first, the description of translation task. This part mainly includes task background and the characteristics of political and military news. Second, the description of translation process, including the understanding of English news, translation and revision. Third, the case studies of translation version. In this part, the author listed common translation strategies and methods under the guidance of Relevance Theory. Fourth, the conclusion of translation practice re 。,。、。、port. The summary and meaning of this translation practice is concluded in the last part of this report. Besides, the description and guidance of Relevance Theory to news translation is outlined. Meanwhile, the author hopes that this report can be a reference to journalists. |
