This thesis is mainly to examine famous Canadian philosopher Charles Taylor's notion about"self'.Human pursuit of "self' perfection,Taylor thought,is not isolated from"self'.It requires a particular perspective,through the strong evaluation,language and narrative.The"identity" not only for your own self,but also is identified by others.If we want to achieve both kinds of identity,it is necessary to involve the human moral issues.It can be said that"self' can not be separated from the realization of moral commitment.For each stage in the history of the different understanding of moral implementation,Taylor believes the formation of the modern idea of self is the different understanding of all stack which bestand have two parts.The first part are of two parallel clues:one is the inwardness of self;another is the affirmation of ordinary life.The second part is joint development of the two factor above brought the expressivist turn.According to the architecture of Taylor's theory,this thesis detailed investigation of three points.First,the associated with inwardness is "constitutive goods",that is the history of a series moral ontology,it is "self" identity.Second,is the affirmation of ordinary life.It is value judgment gradually to pay attention to human,this is self "identified by others".Third,after The Enlightenment,the realization of "self' is limited by excessive emphasis on rational.Expressivism in the light of this shift the realization of "self' to balance by turn to emphasizing on nature.On the basis,this thesis makes a detailed analysis on Taylor's idea of"self",and points out its significance to us.
