In the human intellectual history, the relationship between human and nature is a constant and new topic, and as a kind of ethical philosophy ideological trend, specifically advocates natural moral status and moral relation between man and nature, originated in the 1970 s, this was the rise of the western environmental ethics thought. After the birth of environmental ethics as a discipline, research and debates about it just never stopped. Along with the increasingly serious ecological crisis, people begin to rethink how to deal with the relationship between human and nature, how to treat the nature? Many academics have discussed and answer to this question. In such a trend, Rolston's natural value theory is proposed. Rolston is the representative figure of the western environmental ethics, known as the "father" of environmental ethics. Rolston's greatest contribution to the environment ethics is the first system and comprehensive narration and illustration of the intrinsic value of nature, for the modern environmental ethics has opened up a unique thought route. Rolston's thought not only created various kinds of nature value, and created man capable of evaluation. Nature is evolution towards creating value; It's not that we give value to natural, but the natural value is a gift to us. On this basis, Rolston also puts forward the intrinsic value, instrumental value and value system, and points out that the ecological system is a complete whole. Finally Rolston, points out that environmental ethics is the new test to measure one's moral realm, people should be perfect moral watchdogs, not only use the moral as this form of life survival tools, but maintain people and put it to maintain all perfect life forms. This paper trace Rolston's ecological ethics thought, era background and theoretical basis of ecological ethics thought. Rolston expounded the three basic contents: Natural Value Theory, Ecological Holism and Ecological Practice. Rolston's ecological ethics thought put the ecological philosophy theory into practice, making our construction of ecological civilization, sustainable development and dealing with the relationship between human and nature, and providing the theoretical support and practical enlightenment.
