A Study On The Sophists’ Educational Views Of The Classical Age

The sophists’ educational views is an indispensable part in the formation of the educational views in ancient Greece.And it is an important part of the western ancient educational views.In Greek classical period,sophists gathered in cities whose center was Athens and made tour lecture,teaching grammar,rhetoric and forensics,and they took charge.Their educational activities have trained numerous talents for Athens and other cities,promoted the development of education in ancient Greece civilization,and left valuable educational experience for later generations.The paper is divided into three parts: introduction,text and epilogue.Introduction illustrates the goal and significance of the topic,research dynamic at home and foreign,and the content of this article and innovation points.The text is divided into three aspects:the first part introduces the social background of the formation of the sophists,the origin of the sophists,the formation of the sophists and its main representative;the second part discusses Isocrates andGorgias’ s educational activities,embodying and generalizing the sophists’ educational views;the third part analyses the influence of the sophists’ educational views from the objective and positive aspects.Through their educational purpose,content and method,etc,we can know overall context of the sophists’ educational views.On this basis,we can discuss the sophists’ educational ideas and inspiration.In the epilogue,the paper makes a summary and reflection of the research content.
