Regardless of its significance, it remains undeveloped in China during these years.This thesis focuses on China’s science fiction in the 21 st century and try to make an retrospection from the cultural perspective by carrying out researches in terms of its production and consumption. By analyzing the text of those science fiction, thesis holds that the main content of them is composed of two parts, namely the construction of virtual environment as an explicit symbol and the realistic concerns as an implicit symbol. The author holds that they are characterized by the magnificent narrative imagination and the pursuit of classic spiritual aesthetics; the author also believes that the social production of China’s science fiction are realized through the universal acceptance of different symbols in a given society and media communication. Media communication are realized firstly through construction of image and content of fiction in a cognitive way and then on the basis of presupposed framework, through the classified and compared accompanying text in the process of communication, which strengthening the presupposed framework. By analyzing the motivation of the consumers, this thesis illustrates the current consumption of post-modern China’s science fiction.
