A Study On Multitone Characters Of Longkanshoujing

The Longkanshoujing(????)is a dictionary compiled by Xingjun(??)in Song and Liao dynasty which absorbed a great number of characters and involved many contents.It has great value in Phonology,Philology,Exegesis and so on.With the development of Dunhuang Studies,the scholars concerns on the Longkanshoujing with more interests,and have made some achievements on Lexicography,Philology and Dunhuang Vulgar Words textual research.But there are still some improvement could be made in this book especially on Phonology and Exegesis.I take the Korean edition Longkanshoujing published by the Zhonghua Book Company as the master copy to digitize the paper,and establish a Longkanshoujing Database(???????)in order to analyze the multitone characters overall by adopting the research methods combined of corpus linguistics,linguistics and philology.Thus,I can reveal its value in phonology by consulting the number and characteristics of multitone characters.The article divided in four chapters:The first chapter is an introduction, mainly on the book about the author, content,style and the related previous studies. And I also will explain why I choose this subject as my paper, my research technique and procedures.The second chapter is the overview of the multitone characters, analyzing the multitone characters roundly according to statistics of the Longkanshoujing Database. I has carried on a detailed description from three aspects: character number, style and genre, so as to understand the multitone characters comprehensively and systematically.The third chapter is the study of multitone characters.First of all,I discusses the multitone characters to indicate the source,the statistics and comparative analysis.For the multitone characters which do not indicate the source,I take the Guangyun(??)as master copy,making a preliminary discussion and classification through searching the related literature.Secondly,I analyses the reasons of the multitone character's production from different aspects.The forth chapter is the summery. The multitone characters in Longkanshoujing is of great quantity, and with wide sources, which save the pronunciation of rhyming dictionary, dictionary, Buddhist Scripture Yinyi, meanwhile absorbing the popular pronunciation at that time. It can not only reflect the historical change, but also reflect phonologic problems such as the dialect, the ancient sound It is an important reference to explore the Chinese phonology in Liao dynasty even in Middle ancient China.
