This thesis is focused on comparison study of Buyu in Chinese language and its counterpart in English language. To lay the theoretical foundation for further analysis, the distinguishment of the concept of Resultative Attributes from that of Complements was made on the English language study part in the first place, and yet the syntactic meaning and semantic orientation of Resultative Attributes were explored and elaborated.Furthermore, the concept of Resultative Attributes in English was found equivalent to that of resulative Buyu in Chinese language in the semantic sense. Secondly, three kinds of sentence structures, which are S+V+O+RA, S+V+RA, S+V+FO+RA, were concluded according to the nature of primary predicate of English resultative sentences. It follows that the semantic orientation of Resultative Attributes and the semantic restrictions of primary verbs for resultatives were closely looked into. In addition, Control structure and ECM structure were drew out from resultative sentences according to the different semantic roles acted on by that particular object. The same practice also held true for Chinese resultative sentences. Moreover, when its counterparts of Chinese resultative sentences were found in English grammatical unit of sentence, not only English resultative sentences but non- resultative sentences, such as simple basic sentences, other compound sentences, adverbial clause of time and adverbial clause of results, were also able to be the English equivalents. In the end, when its counterparts of Chinese resultative sentences were found in English grammatical unit of words, the equivalents of Chinese Verb Resultative compounds were studied in two aspects, with one aspect being the sorts of verbs that very primary predicative verb fall in and the other one being the three ways that particular verb was formed.
