| In this thesis, the study object is the running & cursive script of Wang Duo and Fu Shan. In the revolution history background of late Ming Dynasty, this thesis highlight their similarity and individuality through the comparative study of every aspect of their running & cursive script. so that, the style and origin of their writing style can be presented to everyone clearly and systematically. At the same time, this thesis also expound the impact of their running & cursive script, and the enlightenment for higher calligraphy education and the contemporary calligraphy circles.During the research, the author tried to conduct a comparative research on the running & cursive script of Wang Duo and Fu Shan through five parts. The first chapter introduces the background of the research object, as well as the great changes of the era, including the social thoughts, culture background, material conditions, art activities and the development of the running & cursive script during late Ming Dynasty.The second chapter starts to compare and research the origin of their running & cursive script, including their life experiences, political encounters, aesthetic ideologies, calligraphy advocates, calligraphy leaning process as well as inheritance and development. Among these parts, on the aspect of calligraphy leaning process, the author borrows the "sixteen characters principle" calligraphy theory of his supervisor Mr. Zhao Zhenqian to conduct the research systematically and theoretically.The third chapter conduct the research from the main visual elements of calligraphy, that is to say the aspect of artistic language, including the factors of writing brush, character, ink, chapter and so on. At the same time, the "metaphysical" that calligraphy works present is also important comparison object. The fourth chapter describes the influence of Wang Duo and Fu Shan’s running & cursive script both domestic and overseas.The fifth chapter mainly analyzes the revelation of Wang Duo and Fu Shan’s calligraphy spirit to contemporary higher calligraphy education and calligraphy circles, including the raising and applying of "sixteen characters principle" calligraphy theory, the cultural value of Wang Duo and Fu Shan’s Calligraphy, as well as some author’s thoughts.This thesis not only visually compares the similarities and differences between Wang Duo and Fu Shan’s running & cursive script. and the similarities and differences between implication and meaning of their whole works, but also compares the similarities and differences between the causes of their running & cursive script. The comparison perspective does not just fix on the techniques and the visual aesthetic, but extends to calligraphy learning method, aesthetic ideology, life experiences, as well as domestic and international impact.The author systematically summarize Wang Duo and Fu Shan’s calligraphy learning method as a new "sixteen characters principle", that is "promoting tradition, extensive and expertise, encouraging and creativity, advocating individuality" (these words borrowing from supervisor Mr. Zhao Zhenqian). this scientific learning method is concise but to the point, it offers a scientific training mode for higher calligraphy education, at the same time, it also provides strong operational guidance theory for people who want to learn calligraphy better and deeper and write calligraphy works. |
