Objective By analyzing the levels of homocysteine(Hcy)and left atrial diameter(LAD)in patients with different types of atrial fibrillation(AF)and people with no history of atrial fibrillation(AF)to explore the role of atrial fibrillation during the process of atrial reconstruction and atrial fibrillation. To further strengthen the understanding of the pathogenesis and relative risk factors of atrial fibrillation.Through this,We can broaden our minds in the treatment and prevention of atrial fibrillation in clinic. Methods A total of 130 patients with atrial fibrillation from January 2017 to January 2018 in the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University were selected as experimental group.By reference the?2014 AHA/ACC/HRS Guideline for the management of Patients with Atrial Fibrillation?in the JACC.The patients were divided into persistent atrial fibrillation group(67 cases)and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation(63 cases). At the same time,70 cases of sinus rhythm with no history of atrial fibrillation were selected as the control group. All subjects collected blood from fasting elbow vein in the morning on an empty stomach and sent it to the Department of Clinical Laboratory of Ningxia Medical University General Hospital for the detection of homocysteine(Hcy)by immunoassay. Then all participants were examined by color Doppler echocardiography at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University. The left atrium diameter(LAD)was measured and recorded. The general clinical data of each group were sorted out and analyzed statistically. Then the Hcy and LAD were compared and analyzed. We use Spearman correlation coefficient to find the correlation between Hcy and LAD,and the multiple linear regression analysis of LAD was carried out. Finally,Logistic regression analysis was used to explore what the risk factors of atrial fibrillation are. Results The age of patients with persistent atrial fibrillation was older than that with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and control group(P<0.01).The percentages of coronary heart disease and hypertension in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The level of Hcy in persistent atrial fibrillation group is higher than that in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation group and control group(P< 0.01).The LAD size of persistent atrial fibrillation group was obviously higher than that of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation group and control group, and that of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation group was also larger than that of control group(P<0.01).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that: the level of Hcy and the effect of atrial fibrillation on the size of LAD were statistically significant(P<0.01).Spearman correlation analysis showed that: there is a positive correlation between LAD size and Hcy(Rs=0.443,P<0.01).The results of Logistic regression analysis suggested that: LAD(OR=1.59)and Hcy(OR=1.15)are risk factors for the disease of atrial fibrillation(P<0.01).Conclusion The Hcy of patients with atrial fibrillation is significantly higher than that of patients with sinus rhythm. The LAD of patients with atrial fibrillation is higher than that of patients with sinus rhythm, and it has a relationship with atrial fibrillation load. There is a positive correlation between LAD and Hcy.Hcy may be involved in atrial reconstruction as an oxidative stress vascular injury factor.LAD and Hcy are risk factors for atrial fibrillation.
